Annual Traditions at Christ Lutheran Church

Peanut Butter Easter Egg Fundraiser (February)

Join us as we host our annual Easter Egg Fundraiser. Children and adults alike love our famous homemade chocolate-covered peanut butter eggs, and the money from sales goes toward keeping the church funded.

Lenten Fish Dinner (March)

Join us to enjoy a fresh fish dinner during the season of Lent. Stop by to dine in or order takeout. Reservations are strongly recommended.

The Eucharist for a National Holiday (July)

To celebrate our American pride, we welcome the Hazleton Liberty Band to perform during the service in addition to our usual music. The big band is always a treat, and we welcome all to join us for the occasion.

Summertime Tea (July)

Relax and enjoy some tea, pastries, and other light fare. Both hot and cold tea will be available, along with lemonade, water, and gluten-free food options. Your spot will have to be reserved in advance, with three different time slots to choose from.

Friendship Sunday (July)

Celebrate Friendship Sunday with us by bringing a friend from outside the congregation. All are welcome to join us in worship.

Peach Social (August)

Our annual Peach Social centers around the mouth-watering combination of peaches and ice cream, but there will be even more to enjoy. Make your reservation to dine on tasty hot dogs, hamburgers, sloppy joes, salads, and more.

Rummage/Yard Sale (August)

We understand that everyone needs some help lightening their load, so we have a rummage sale every summer to do just that. Browse through new to gently used household items, toys, baby items, books, clothes, decorations, and so much more!

Blessing of the Pets (October)

Yes, you read correctly, on the first Sunday afternoon of October we bring our pets to the church for a special blessing.

Harvest Home Sunday (October)

Our Harvest Home week occurs in October and it is always an enjoyable week to join us in worship as we thank God for the harvest feat he has provided through collecting cans of non-perishables for those in need.

Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner (October)

There’s nothing like a traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner. We’ll be serving it up with mashed potatoes, veggies, and an assortment of drinks and desserts. During the month of October, make your reservation by signing the sheet in the gathering place.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service (November)

Join us at Christ Lutheran Church for a special interfaith worship service on Thanksgiving-eve. Clergy from the Hazleton Ministerium Association will lead worship.

Christkindlfest (December)

Christkindlfest is one our of largest events each December. We welcome you to join us in celebrating the Christmas story by enjoying our sound and light Fontanini Nativity Display. There are always beautiful crafts for sale as well as a tricky tray auction, and be sure to check out our Tannenbaum tea room where you can indulge in tea, scones and other treats. St. Nicholas himself has been known to frequent the event.
